The Silicon Valley chapter of the American Harp Society (member Sharon Macauley is seen here) will perform the karaoke favorite ‘Don’t Stop Believin’.

“Don’t Stop Believin’” is more a staple of the karaoke bar than the concert hall—and it’s rarely played on a harp. But such a performance is partly the point of the Silicon Valley Arts Coalition’s 10th annual Arts Panorama, which showcases the unique offerings of small local arts groups.

The American Harp Society, Silicon Valley chapter, will play the Journey favorite at the Arts Panorama, which is also a fundraiser for the 18 groups that are members of SVAC.

The coalition formed in 2001 with the aim of increasing visibility and building audiences for its member organizations, and promoting arts education. “This is not only our only fundraiser of the year, it’s our way of showing our member organizations’ talent,” says Susan Zerweck, chair of the event.

This evening of art, music and wine, plus a silent auction takes place at the Le Petit Trianon Theatre Jan. 24 for $25 a ticket.

“We figure the more you save on tickets, the more you can spend in the silent auction,” Zerweck jokes.

The bidding for the silent auction will be conducted throughout the evening and winners will be announced at the end of the night. The top item up for auction is a four-pack of Disneyland parkhopper passes. Also on the block is the chance to conduct the Mission Chamber Orchestra (a coalition member) along with event tickets, handmade art and even services such as a car tune-up at Walt’s Automotive.

Vivace Youth Chorus, directed by Peggy Spool, opens the evening, and the Harp Society will follow with “Don’t Stop Believin’” accompanied by vocalist Evelyn Rumsby. Closing out the night will be the performances by the South Bay Guitar Society and Lyric Theatre, presenting selections from its upcoming production of The Mikado.

Other performers will include Palo Alto Philharmonic Duo, Nova Vista Symphony Ensemble, South Bay Philharmonic performing an original composition from the National Association of Composers (NACUSA), Mission Chamber Orchestra Ensemble, Sweet Adelines Quartet and San Jose Wind Quintet.
